Indaba is Africa’s top travel trade show and brings together a showcase of Southern African tourism products and services who exhibit for the travel trade. The show is attended by international tourism buyers, international and domestic tour operators, journalists and consular generals and industry organizations. Exhibitors and buyers attend the show to compile packages for 2012/2013 and to search for new and exciting products in the Southern African tourism sector.

The show statistics are nothing less than impressive – with an estimated 13 000 people attending the show over the 4 days from the travel tourism and related industries sector. Indaba has won the award for Africa’s best travel and tourism show for the past two years.

The Cape Point Route team will take it’s customary energy and passion to Indaba and will be showcasing attractions, activities, restaurants and accommodation from the Cape Peninsula, along with some exciting packages selling the area. The team will wear bright orange t-shirts to unify and brand the south prominently as THE place to be when visiting the Cape.

“The quality of the product offerings from the peninsula this year is superb,” says Barbara Elshove-Schmidt, of Cape Point Route, adding that the team is exceptionally friendly and professional which adds value when marketing the region as a unified destination.

The participants have been working together prior to the show, getting to know each other’s businesses and packaging their offers in order to generate more business for the south. Cape Point Route’s Sally Grierson confirms, “The strength of the Cape Point Route team is that they don’t view each other as competition. They realize the importance of working as team to bring business to the region – the competition is other cities in South Africa and the world”. Sally adds, “ In today’s economic climate it is more important than ever for tourism businesses to work together for cost effective promotions in order to retain market share.”

The Cape Point Route team is packed and ready to take the south peninsula to the world and feels confident that this year’s Indaba trade show is sure to bring more business to the beautiful south.
