Dear All,
We rare continuing our association with The Handbag Project which was founded by The Jes Foord Foundation. The handbags are filled with personal comfort items and are given to rape survivors during the initial reporting process at police stations.

These are things such as a facecloth, soap, deodorant spray, new underwear, etc. Typically, any item of clothing with forensic evidence on it must be taken from the rape victim, at a time she already feels so vulnerable. She then must undergo physical examination before being allowed to shower. A handbag with ‘comfort’ items in it can go a long way in helping the victim feel a little better. JFF Handbag Project

We feel very strongly about the issue of rape and would appreciate any donations of UNUSED OR GOOD, SECOND-HAND HANDBAGS that we can donate towards the Handbag project, from our Simon’s Town Museum family. Please ask others that you know, to assist if they are able.
