At the launch of the 2011 Guide to the Cape Point Route, we incorporated a fundraiser for Empowerment-through-Education Trust fondly known as E-T-E. Cape Point Route and its’ members raised more than R20 000 which helped the trust pay for one child’s education for one year.
The mission of E-T-E is to sponsor the complete education, Grade 1 through tertiary education of 5 children each year from Masakhane Creche in Masiphumelele and Green Curtains Pre-Primary School in Ocean View. E-T-E pays and monitors the education of each child. Read More about E-T-E and the children here.
We did it in 2011 and we want to do it again. Help Cape Point Route send a child to school in 2012! Traditionally at our annual brochure launch we have asked our tourism partners for prizes for the guests that attend the function. Due to the success of 2011 – we will once again ask our guests to pay for the items they want in an auction format! Prizes will be on display with silent auction bidding forms and a starting bid. Guests bid in earnest in an attempt to outbid unknown competitors for sought after items before the bidding deadline.
Here’s How You can Help: donate an auction item!
- Meals for 2 people
- Accommodation or weekends away
- Activities for 2 people
- Experiences for 2 people
- Unique items
Why should you Help?
- You’ll help a child receive an education for their future.
- Promotional display of your product to members of the tourism industry (brochures, banners, posters or business cards welcome)
- Winners of each prize to be announced.
- Invitation to the function as a networking opportunity.
- Exposure to potential new clients – the attendees are from the tourism industry, and deal directly with guests.
Barbara and Sally were fortunate to attend a Thank you dinner at Fish Hoek Galley in March last year. We met the children of the Empowerment through Education Trust- making the process of giving easier and more real! The trust monitors the progress of each child and manages the fundraising and finances for the children’s education.
The E-T-E trust has evolved from the establishment of a crèche in Masiphumele called Masakhane and due to the success of the project, a second crèche called Green Curtains was established in Ocean View. The top achiever children from these 2 schools are the beneficiaries of further funding for primary school. As the trust states – there is no substitute for education and these children will be our future leaders.
