Cooking Course Series at Goose Green Lodge, Noordhoek

Marita Pieterse, who has a Diploma in Food & Wine from Leith’s (London) and a Diploma in International Wine from the Cape Wine Academy will be hosting Cooking Classes at Goose Green Lodge  in Noordhoek on 15, 17 and 19 July 2014, starting at 09h00.

Marita has many years’ experience in catering and has also worked freelance as food writer and stylist. Her work has appeared in magazines such as Food & Home Entertaining, Your Family and Finesse. Marita has also written restaurant reviews for Eat Out magazine. Her first cookbook, Four Seasons, was published by Struik in September 2006. The theme for the classes will be Spice, and Starters and Deserts.

Four seasonsWe use top quality ingredients – fresh, seasonal and organic where possible. To ensure personal attention, we limit the number of students to 8 per cooking class. In each class we will cook for about 3 to 4 hours and then (for many people the highlight of the day) we sit down at the dining table to savour our creations, have a glass of wine, and enjoy each other’s company. A minimum of 6 dishes are prepared per class.

The cost of a Cooking Class is R450 and includes: A full set of recipes, including guidelines for advance preparation and freezing of dishes where applicable, all ingredients, the use of an apron, tea, coffee, biscuits and fruit juice to enjoy while cooking and wine with your meal.

Taste 5/6 wines from the Foodbarn‘s current winter wine partners, discuss them and Pair them with a little something for an hour. Then enjoy a 3 course meal (obviously paired with wines!). Only 25 seats available.  All wines tasted on the evening available at Cellar Door prices.

For the duration of that week (14 – 21 July 2014) course attendees will also qualify for the special rate of R275 per person sharing per night in the en-suite Standard rooms at Goose Green Lodge, which will include a beautiful continental breakfast.
