ST George & Dragon Festival: Simons Town: 17 & 18 April

Great news!!   Following the success of last year, the St George and the Dragon Festival will be held on 17 and 18 April 2015 in the village of Simon’s Town.

The festival kicks off with a Medieval Feast in the Town Hall on Friday evening the 17th April.  The superb live music line-up features Out of the Blue, Bill Knight and Hatchetman.

Saturday the 18th sees a host of events throughout the town, and we challenge you to be bored for a minute!!!

The festival has a strong family focus, and will delight children of all ages.  Children’s events will take place at the Foundry Gardens, and the line-up is: Minni Mo interactive reptile show, Hoola Hoop competition, Face Painting, Craft Table, Dragon egg hunt, Dress up, Jumping Castle, and Cupcake Decorating. Music will be by the young violinists from the Masi Music Outreach.

On Saturday visit the Tavern in the Town Hall, where craft and other beers, with pub grub is on offer. The fantastic Saturday live music line-up at the Tavern features Steve Van, Jamie Jupiter, and Tim Parr. Entertainment on Jubilee Square includes three Live Drama Plays; St George and the Dragon, The story of the Big Blue Dam, and the Black Smith Comedy show.

There will be over 30 Food and Craft Stalls on the square, truly offering something for every taste. Browse these while listening to Music by Mickey. A Great St. George’s Cake Bake Off will be held at The Lord Nelson Hotel.

The Modern Dragon Art Exhibition is on upstairs at the Meeting Place Restaurant; Meet the Artist Lynton Levengood on Saturday the 18th.

Ollava Scuba will offer Trial Diving Lessons, and there will be Canoe Water Polo Game off the jetty. Ample parking is available along on Main Street, at the Library Hall area, at Wharf Street, the Yacht Club area and at Cole Point.

This is a community, non-profit event  which is supporting : NSRI, Volunteer Wildlife Services, Happy Valley Shelter, and In Motion Children’s Outreach.
